What you will do
Vallåsskolan and Snöstorpsskolan are jointly seeking a school librarian who, with enthusiasm and joy, wants to be part of driving the schools' operations forward. As a school librarian, you play a crucial role in increasing students' achievement of learning goals. Your primary task, in collaboration with students and teachers, is to promote reading interest and contribute to improving literacy. You are also responsible for the budget and purchasing of literature and other media for the library. In cooperation with teachers and other educators, you will develop students' love for reading, imagination, and reading and writing skills. You are interested in the opportunities that digital tools offer for promoting reading enjoyment as well as reading and writing development. We want to focus on reading development in all subjects throughout primary school. In this role, you will collaborate with school leadership, teachers, and other staff in the primary school.
You have a clear focus on students, value good treatment, and build strong relationships. The role also includes developing students' ability to search for and evaluate information. You will work on source criticism and how students should handle the internet and social media. You are a role model and are driving the school's digitalization process, providing support to teachers and students in using digital tools. You will be part of the network for school librarians in Halmstad Municipality.
As a school librarian, you will work at both Vallåsskolan (60%) and Snöstorpsskolan (40%). You will meet students from preschool class up to grade 9 and collaborate with the school's dedicated educators to create the best possible conditions for student learning. Snöstorpsskolan has a school library, while at Vallåsskolan, we collaborate with the public library located in the same building as the school.
You will be part of the administration's school librarian network. The network meets regularly and is led by the administration's school library developer. The purpose is to create an arena for school library development through systematic quality work, further education, collegial learning, dialogue, as well as information and inspiration. As a school librarian, you also have access to an administration-wide multilingual library and support from a multilingual librarian.
Interviews will take place on Tuesday-Wednesday of week 28.

What we offer
We offer a position at two of our eastern schools.
Snöstorpsskolan is located in the eastern parts of Halmstad. Approximately 380 students attend the school in grades F-5. Each grade has three classes. Snöstorpsskolan has many students who attend after-school care, which is divided into four different units. The school has a large playground with good opportunities for various activities and a recess value team that works on meaningful recesses and staffs our play center. In the immediate vicinity, there are access to green areas, playgrounds, and walking areas in the Fylleån valley. After grade 5, students move to Klaraskolan to attend grades 6-9. A new school is planned to be built in Snöstorp, which will be called Lyckedal. This school will receive students from Snöstorpsskolan and Andersbergsskolan from grades 4-9.
Vallåsskolan is a F-9 school with just over 700 students located in the central parts of Halmstad. At Vallåsskolan, we all share a common responsibility for student safety and for ensuring that students reach as far as possible in their development and learning. At Vallåsskolan, we develop teaching together to improve goal achievement, safety, and study environment. We have a student health team consisting of the principal, deputy principals, special needs educator, special teacher, counselor, and school nurse. The student health team works closely with the teaching staff to develop an accessible learning environment for all students in collaboration with the personnel. We also have access to central student health services with a school psychologist and school doctor.
